About Wabma Kadarbu Mound Springs Conservation Park
Wabma Kadarbu Mound Springs Conservation Park is a protected area in South Australia's Far North, west of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre South along the Oodnadatta Track. It preserves a significant field of artesian mound springs fed by the Great Artesian Basin, including Blanche Cup and The Bubbler. Notable for unique geological formations, desert wetlands and cultural significance to the Arabana people, the park features boardwalks and viewing platforms in an arid landscape.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a remote arid desert landscape dotted with active and extinct mound springs. The main visitor sites are Blanche Cup, a large terraced mound with a clear pool, and The Bubbler, an active spring with visible bubbling. Raised boardwalks and viewing platforms allow close observation while protecting fragile formations. Interpretive signage explains geology and Arabana cultural connections. The area is flat, sparsely vegetated, exposed with little shade, accessed via the unsealed Oodnadatta Track.
