About Virgin Island
Virgin Island, also known as Pungtud or Pontod Island, is a crescent-shaped sandbar off the southern tip of Panglao Island in Bohol, Philippines. Located in the Bohol Sea, it is famous for its powdery white sand, crystal-clear shallow waters, and its disappearing nature at high tide. Accessible only by boat, it is a core stop on Panglao island-hopping tours alongside Balicasag Island.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a narrow, curved sandbar surrounded by shallow, clear turquoise water with no permanent buildings or trees. The island is largely exposed with fine white sand, small tidal pools, and panoramic views of the sea and Panglao coastline. Access is by outrigger boat, requiring wading ashore. Vendors in small boats sell fresh seafood and souvenirs. There is no shade or overnight accommodation, and the usable sand area varies significantly with the tide.
