About Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tram
The Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tram is a heritage horse-drawn tramway in Victor Harbor, South Australia, linking the mainland at Victor Harbor to Granite Island via the 630-metre timber causeway. Operating since 1894, it is one of the few remaining horse-drawn tram routes in the world. Pulled by Clydesdale horses, it offers a historic transport experience with views over Encounter Bay and is a major tourist attraction for the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Visitors guide
Visitors can board an open-sided double-decker tram pulled by Clydesdale horses for a scenic ride across the Granite Island Causeway between the Victor Harbor foreshore (near the Visitor Information Centre on the Esplanade) and Granite Island. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes each way with views of Encounter Bay, the coastline and the causeway sculptures. On Granite Island visitors can walk trails, view wildlife and enjoy coastal scenery before returning by tram.
