About Upside Down Museum
The Upside Down Museum in George Town, Penang is an interactive novelty museum located on Lebuh Kimberley in the Timur Laut District. Opened in 2015, it is the first of its kind in Malaysia, featuring everyday Malaysian scenes recreated entirely upside down. Visitors walk through inverted living rooms, kitchens, and street scenes designed for creative photography, making it a popular family and photo attraction in central George Town.
Visitors guide
Visitors can explore a two-storey shophouse where all furniture, decorations and street scenes are installed upside down on the ceiling. Staff assist with photography to create illusion photos where visitors appear to be standing on the ceiling. The museum includes themed zones such as a living room, kitchen, bedroom, kopitiam, and Penang street scenes. The visit is indoors, guided in small groups, and focused on interactive photo-taking.
