About U Minh Ha National Park
U Minh Ha National Park is a protected peat-swamp forest in U Minh and Tran Van Thoi districts, about 25 km northwest of Ca Mau City in Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam. Covering 8,286 hectares, it preserves one of the Mekong Delta's last natural Melaleuca cajuputi forests on thick peat soil. Notable for its canal network, rich biodiversity, birdlife, and 25-meter observation tower, it offers boat tours and forest walks showcasing a unique wetland ecosystem.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a lowland peat-swamp landscape dominated by dense Melaleuca (cajuput) forest, interlaced with narrow canals and boardwalks. Exploration is mainly by small motorboat or rowboat through forest canals and on foot along forest trails. A 25-meter observation tower provides panoramic views over the forest canopy. The environment is tranquil and natural, with opportunities to see birds, fish, and wetland flora, plus a visitor centre and guided interpretation of the peatland ecosystem.

History of U Minh Ha National Park
Part of the historic U Minh Forest, which served as a base during the resistance wars. The area was previously managed as U Minh Ha Forest Enterprise and was designated as U Minh Ha National Park on 20 January 2006 under Decision 112/QD-TTg to protect 8,286 hectares of peatland Melaleuca forest and its biodiversity.
Culture & Context
Represents the distinctive Mekong Delta peat-swamp Melaleuca ecosystem and traditional forest-based livelihoods such as beekeeping, fishing and cajuput oil production. The park is important for environmental education, conservation and showcasing the natural heritage of the southernmost delta region.
