About Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve
Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve is a protected coastal reserve located 35 kilometres east of Albany in Western Australia's Great Southern region. Managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, it is renowned for its pristine beaches including Little Beach and Waterfall Beach, granite headlands and diverse habitats. The reserve is internationally significant as the rediscovery site of the noisy scrub-bird in 1961 and Gilbert's potoroo in 1994, both critically endangered species.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a largely undeveloped coastal nature reserve with sheltered white-sand beaches, clear turquoise water, granite headlands and heathland. The main visitor areas are Little Beach and Waterfall Beach for swimming and photography, a small visitor centre with interpretive displays about the noisy scrub-bird and Gilbert's potoroo, short walking trails, picnic and barbecue areas, and lookouts over Gardner Lake and Mount Gardner. The interior of the reserve is restricted to protect critical habitat.
