About Tulian Lake
Tulian Lake is a high-altitude alpine lake located about 12 to 16 kilometres from Pahalgam in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, at an elevation of around 3,684 metres between the Pir Panjal and Zanskar ranges. Fed by snowmelt, the lake remains frozen from November to May and is surrounded by snow-clad peaks and alpine meadows. Notable for its clear turquoise waters and scenic trek through pine forests and Baisaran meadows, it is a popular seasonal trekking destination.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a strenuous high-altitude trek from Pahalgam via Baisaran and Tulian Valley to reach an oval-shaped alpine lake surrounded by snow-covered mountains and meadows. The lake is frozen in winter and reveals clear blue-green water in summer. There are no built structures at the lake; the experience is entirely natural with open meadows, pine forests en route, and panoramic mountain views. Trekking, photography and short camping stays are the main activities.
