History of Truc Bach Lake
Truc Bach Lake was originally part of West Lake until the 17th century when Co Ngu Dyke, now Thanh Nien Road, was constructed to separate it, creating a distinct lake. The name comes from Truc Bach Village, historically known for silk weaving and later for paper making, which was located on the lake's shore.
Culture & Context
The lake is associated with the traditional craft village of Truc Bach and is surrounded by cultural sites including Chau Long Pagoda and nearby Quan Thanh Temple and Tran Quoc Pagoda. It remains a popular leisure space for Hanoi residents and reflects everyday urban lakeside culture.
