History of Tringalwadi Lake
The lake is associated with Tringalwadi Fort which dates back to around the 10th century and was strategically built to overlook ancient trade routes connecting Konkan to Nashik. The fort changed hands between Maratha rulers including Shahaji and Shivaji, Mughals, and British before being surrendered in 1818. The irrigation dam creating the lake was constructed in 1978.
