About Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary
Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area spanning 148.63 square kilometers in the Pandharkawada region of Yavatmal district, Maharashtra. Named after the local Goddess Tipai shrine, it features hilly terrain with teak and red sandalwood forests. The sanctuary supports a significant tiger population alongside leopards, sloth bears, and diverse bird species. It serves as an ecological corridor linking Kawal Tiger Reserve in Telangana to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra.
Visitors guide
Visitors can undertake guided jeep safaris through designated zones via Sunna, Mathani, or Kodori gates to observe wildlife in natural habitats. The sanctuary offers sightings of tigers, leopards, sloth bears, sambar deer, chital, and numerous bird species within its teak-dominated forests and hilly landscape. Safari operations are restricted to specific morning and evening slots with limited daily vehicle permits. Accommodation is available outside the core zone in nearby Pandharkawada town rather than inside the sanctuary.
