History of The Punggol Settlement
The Punggol Point area was historically a fishing village and rural settlement. The nearby Punggol Beach is a historic site associated with World War II. The Punggol Settlement was developed in the 2010s as part of the Punggol Waterfront revitalisation to transform the former fishing village area into a recreational and dining waterfront for the Punggol new town.
Culture & Context
Reflects the transformation of Punggol from a traditional fishing and farming area to a modern waterfront residential town, preserving a coastal kampong atmosphere through its low-rise, village-style architecture and seafood dining culture that references the area's fishing heritage.
