About Thao Suranari Monument
The Thao Suranari Monument is a central landmark in Nakhon Ratchasima city, located at the junction of Ratchadamnoen and Chumphon Roads beside the historic Chumphon Gate. Erected in 1934, it honors Thao Suranari (Ya Mo), revered for leading the defense of Korat against Vientiane forces in 1826. The bronze statue on a pedestal is a focal point for respect, ceremonies, and the annual Thao Suranari Festival.
