About Thale Noi Red Lotus Fields
Thale Noi Red Lotus Fields are a seasonal floral display on Thale Noi Lake, a shallow freshwater lake straddling Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla provinces in southern Thailand. Located in Khuan Khanun District, the fields are part of the Thale Noi Non-Hunting Area, Thailand's first waterfowl reserve and a Ramsar wetland. The lake is notable for vast carpets of red lotus and pink water lilies, diverse birdlife, and traditional long-tail boat tours at sunrise.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a shallow freshwater lake and wetland covered seasonally with red lotus and pink water lilies. Access is by hired long-tail boat from the Thale Noi pier, gliding through narrow channels among lotus fields, reeds, and open water. The setting includes birdwatching towers, floating vegetation, water buffalo grazing, and local fishing villages. Early morning boat trips offer the best light for photography and viewing fully opened flowers and waterbirds.
