Tech Dome Penang

Tech Dome Penang is a science discovery centre located inside the geodesic dome atop KOMTAR in George Town, Timur Laut District, Penang. Opened in July 2016 by the Penang State Government, it features over 120 interactive hands-on exhibits focused on science and technology. Housed in a refurbished dome, it serves as Penang's premier informal STEM learning centre for families, students and tourists.

Visitors can expect an indoor, air-conditioned science centre spread over two floors inside the KOMTAR dome. The space contains interactive exhibits covering robotics, optics, physics, life science and space, with hands-on stations, demonstration areas and workshop spaces. Visitors can explore themed galleries, try interactive installations, attend science shows and workshops, and view the city from the dome structure within the KOMTAR complex.

Initiated by the Penang State Government through Penang Tech Centre Berhad, Tech Dome Penang was developed to revitalize the iconic geodesic dome atop KOMTAR. It officially opened in July 2016 as Penang's first large-scale science discovery centre to promote STEM education.

Serves as Penang's main informal science education hub, promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning among students and the general public and supporting the state's focus on science and technology development.
