About Tanote Bay
Tanote Bay (Ao Tanot) is a scenic bay on the east coast of Ko Tao island in Ko Pha Ngan District, Surat Thani Province. Known for its clear turquoise water, coarse sand and granite boulders, it is a popular snorkeling and scuba diving site with a large central rock formation. The bay is more secluded than west-coast beaches and is accessed via a steep hill road.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a curved bay framed by hills and granite boulders with clear water and a mix of sand and rocks. The beach has a large boulder in the middle of the bay popular for cliff jumping, shallow reef areas for snorkeling close to shore, and several beachfront restaurants and dive operations. The setting is relatively quiet and natural compared to Sairee Beach, with sun loungers, shade from trees, and views of the Gulf of Thailand.
