About Strzelecki Track
The Strzelecki Track is a 475-kilometre unsealed outback route in South Australia's Far North, running from Lyndhurst to Innamincka through the Strzelecki Desert. Established as a historic stock route in the 1870s and named for explorer Paul Edmund Strzelecki, it traverses arid plains, sand dunes and gibber country. Today it is a remote four-wheel-drive touring route linking pastoral stations, heritage sites and the Innamincka Regional Reserve.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a remote, unsealed 4WD track through arid desert landscapes of gibber plains, sand dunes, salt lakes and dry creek beds. The route is largely isolated with limited services, passing historic pastoral ruins, bores, and natural features of the Strzelecki Desert and Strzelecki Regional Reserve. There are designated camping and rest areas, information bays and viewpoints. The experience is self-reliant long-distance driving, sightseeing and nature observation between Lyndhurst and Innamincka.
