About Stromlo Forest Park
Stromlo Forest Park is a large recreation park in Stromlo, about 10 km west of central Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. Developed on a former pine plantation destroyed in the 2003 Canberra bushfires, it reopened as a purpose-built recreation facility. It is notable for its extensive mountain bike trail network, road cycling criterium circuit, equestrian trails and event pavilion, serving as Canberra's premier off-road cycling and outdoor events venue.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect an open pine forest and grassland landscape with over 47 km of purpose-built mountain bike trails, a 1.2 km sealed criterium cycling circuit, equestrian trails, and cross-country running tracks. The central event pavilion area provides parking, toilets and picnic facilities with views toward the Brindabella Ranges. The park is largely natural and trail-based with no formal gardens, focused on active recreation and events.
