About Snake Island
Snake Island, also known as Vigan Island, is a small island in Bacuit Bay off El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. It is famous for its distinctive S-shaped sandbar that connects the island's two ends and is visible only at low tide. Accessible only by boat as part of El Nido's island-hopping tours, it offers white sand, clear waters, mangroves and a short hill trail with panoramic views of the bay.
Visitors guide
Visitors arrive by boat as part of El Nido island-hopping Tour B to find a narrow, winding S-shaped sand spit connecting two forested sections of the island. At low tide the sandbar is fully exposed for walking, photography and wading, with shallow clear water on both sides. The island has white sand beach, mangroves, and a short steep trail to a viewpoint overlooking Bacuit Bay. There are no permanent structures or shops; the setting is natural and undeveloped.
