History of Sirinat National Park
Established on 13 July 1981 as Hat Nai Yang National Park, the 68th national park of Thailand. In 1992 it was renamed Sirinat National Park in honor of Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara on the occasion of her 60th birthday anniversary.
Culture & Context
The park is an important center for sea turtle conservation in Thailand, particularly for leatherback turtles that nest on Mai Khao and Nai Yang beaches. It reflects local coastal community traditions linked to fishing and mangrove use, and hosts educational programs on marine ecosystem protection.
