About Sippighat Agricultural Farm
Sippighat Agricultural Farm is a research-cum-demonstration farm located at Sippighat in South Andaman, about 14 km southwest of Port Blair. Managed by the ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, it showcases tropical crops, spices, medicinal plants and island-specific farming techniques. Spread over extensive fields with experimental plots, the farm serves as an educational site for visitors interested in agriculture, horticulture and sustainable practices adapted to the Andaman Islands.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a large, open agricultural landscape with neatly maintained experimental plots, nurseries, and plantations of coconut, areca nut, spices, fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants. The setting is rural and quiet, surrounded by fields and low hills. Visitors can walk along farm paths, observe cultivation techniques, see demonstration units and interact with staff for educational insights. It is primarily an observational and learning experience rather than a recreational park.
