Sim Wine Factory

Sim Wine Factory is a local production facility on Phu Quoc Island in An Giang Province, Vietnam, specializing in wine made from sim (rose myrtle) fruit harvested in the island's forests. Located near Duong Dong town, it is known for showcasing the island's distinctive specialty product. Visitors can observe fermentation and bottling processes, sample different sim wine varieties, and purchase bottles. The factory represents a long-standing local craft and is a common stop on island sightseeing tours.

Visitors can expect a small factory and showroom setting with fermentation tanks, bottling lines and storage areas visible on guided walkthroughs. The main visitor area includes a tasting counter where different strengths and sweetness levels of sim wine are offered, along with sim honey, sim jam and other sim-based products for sampling and purchase. The surroundings are simple and functional, with product displays, information about the sim fruit and forest harvesting, and a shop for souvenirs.

Sim wine production on Phu Quoc developed from the 1990s, with facilities such as Sim Son established in 1997 to process wild sim fruit traditionally gathered from the island's forests into fermented wine, turning a local forest fruit into a recognized island specialty product.

Sim wine is considered a signature specialty of Phu Quoc, reflecting local use of forest resources and traditional fermentation knowledge. The fruit and wine are associated with island identity and are commonly presented as souvenirs for visitors.
