History of Sileru Reservoir
Sileru Reservoir was formed as part of the Machkund Hydro-Electric Scheme, a joint project of the erstwhile Madras Presidency and Odisha initiated in the 1940s-1950s, later continued as the Sileru hydroelectric complex by Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The Sileru Barrage diverts water for power generation at Machkund and subsequent Sileru power stations, representing one of the early major hydroelectric developments in the Eastern Ghats.
