About Sembawang Park
Sembawang Park is a 15-hectare coastal park in the Sembawang planning area of northern Singapore, along Sembawang Road facing the Johor Strait. Developed around the historic Beaulieu House, it retains a tranquil, natural character with one of Singapore's few remaining natural beaches. Notable for its heritage trees, fishing jetty, battleship-themed playground and barbecue pits, the park offers seaside recreation and views toward Johor, Malaysia, within a former British naval base landscape.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a quiet coastal park with a natural sandy beach facing the Johor Strait, shaded lawns under mature trees, and a long fishing jetty. The park contains the restored Beaulieu House (now a restaurant), a battleship-inspired playground, barbecue pits, fitness corners and walking paths. The environment is low-key and family-oriented, with open sea views, fishing activity, and picnic areas rather than commercial beach facilities.

History of Sembawang Park
The park lies within the former Sembawang Naval Base developed by the British in the 1920s-1930s. Beaulieu House, built in 1910, served as the residence of the Chief Engineer overseeing the naval base construction and later as a senior naval officers' residence. The park retains elements of its colonial coastal landscape and was later developed by the National Parks Board as a public coastal park.
Culture & Context
Sembawang Park is valued as a community coastal recreation space preserving a natural beach and colonial heritage building. Beaulieu House is conserved for its architectural and historical value and now functions as a dining venue, reflecting adaptive reuse of heritage in Singapore's park network.
