The area has long been inhabited by the Nyishi community and developed as a forest administrative centre for the Pakke Tiger Reserve, formerly known as Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary.
Culture & Context
Seijosa is predominantly inhabited by the Nyishi tribe, one of the major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Local culture, traditional houses, festivals and community-based conservation initiatives, especially for hornbills, reflect the close relationship between the community and the surrounding forest.
