About Seal Bay Conservation Park
Seal Bay Conservation Park is a protected coastal reserve on the south coast of Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Established to protect the endangered Australian sea lion, it hosts the third-largest colony of the species in Australia. The park features a sandy beach, dunes and limestone cliffs, with a visitor centre, accessible boardwalk and guided beach tours that allow close observation of sea lions in their natural habitat while supporting conservation and research.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a managed wildlife experience centred on an Australian sea lion colony resting and breeding on a long sandy beach backed by dunes and cliffs. Access to the beach is only via guided tours led by rangers, while a self-guided 900m accessible boardwalk with lookouts and interpretive signs offers elevated views over the colony. The visitor centre provides displays, information and a shop. The setting is exposed coastal with no swimming or direct contact with animals.
