History of Sadasiva Brahmendra Adhishtanam
The Adhishtanam commemorates Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra (late 17th to mid-18th century), an Advaita Vedanta scholar, sanyasi and composer of Carnatic music. Born as Sivaramakrishna, he became a disciple of Paramasivendra Saraswati and authored works such as Brahmasutra Vritti and Atma Vidya Vilasa. Tradition holds that he attained Jeeva Samadhi at Nerur around 1755, and the shrine was established over his samadhi on the Cauvery riverbank.
