The area is named after Mick Quinn, a stockman who grazed sheep along this stretch of coast in the 19th century. The name Quinns Rocks was applied to the coastal rocks and later the townsite, which was developed as a residential suburb from the 1960s within the Shire, now City, of Wanneroo.
Culture & Context
Located on Whadjuk Noongar Country, the coastal area forms part of the traditional lands of the Noongar people. Today it serves as a community beach and recreational foreshore for the northern Perth metropolitan area.
