About Purwa Waterfall
Purwa Waterfall is a 70-metre waterfall on the Tamsa River near Purwa village in Semaria Tehsil, Rewa District, Madhya Pradesh. Located about 30 km from Rewa city on the Rewa Plateau, it is one of the major waterfalls of the Vindhya region along with Chachai, Keoti and Bahuti Falls. The waterfall is seasonal and is most impressive during the monsoon when the river flows in full volume over the plateau escarpment.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a wide cliff-edge waterfall dropping about 70 metres into a forested gorge on the Tamsa River. The surrounding landscape consists of Vindhya plateau, rocky cliffs and scrub forest. During monsoon (July-October) the falls form a broad cascade, while in dry months the flow reduces significantly. Viewing is mainly from the plateau top and designated viewpoints opposite the fall. The site is natural and largely undeveloped, offering open areas for sightseeing, photography and short walks.
