About Pink Beach (Komodo)
Pink Beach, locally known as Pantai Merah, is a distinctive beach on Komodo Island within Komodo National Park in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It is notable for its pink-tinged sand colored by fragments of red organ-pipe coral mixed with white sand. Located inside a UNESCO World Heritage marine reserve, the beach offers clear turquoise water, fringing coral reefs and a relatively undeveloped shoreline accessible only by boat from Labuan Bajo.
Visitors guide
Visitors arrive by boat from Labuan Bajo and anchor offshore, wading to a curved stretch of pink-tinged sand backed by low hills and scrub. The water is clear turquoise with fringing coral reefs close to shore. The beach is undeveloped with minimal shade and no permanent buildings. Visitors can walk along the shoreline, swim and snorkel over coral, take photographs of the pink sand contrast, and view surrounding islands of Komodo National Park.
