About Phu Khao Ya
Phu Khao Ya, also known as Ranong Grass Mountain or Khao Hua Lan, is a group of treeless grass-covered hills in Tambon Hatsai Khao, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong Province. The hills are notable for their seasonal color change, lush green in the rainy season and golden-brown in the dry season, and for panoramic views over Ranong town and surrounding countryside.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect open, rolling hills covered entirely in grass with no large trees, intersected by footpaths and small ridges. The area offers wide panoramic views, photo spots on the hilltops, and changing landscapes by season - vivid green after rains and dry golden hues in summer. There are parking areas at the base, seasonal food stalls, and open viewpoints with no built structures on the hills themselves.
