After the insurgency ended, the area was declared Thailand's 48th national park on 26 July 1984, covering 307 sq km. Remnants such as the Political and Military School, field hospital, air-raid shelters and water wheel are preserved within the park as educational historic sites.
Culture & Context
The park area reflects mountain forest heritage of northern Thailand and includes former Hmong settlement areas. Preserved sites are maintained for education about local history and forest conservation.
