About Papunya Tjupi Arts
Papunya Tjupi Arts is an Aboriginal-owned art centre located in the remote community of Papunya, about 240 kilometres northwest of Alice Springs in the MacDonnell Region of the Northern Territory. Established in 2007, it supports Luritja and Pintupi artists, particularly women painters. The centre is significant as Papunya is recognised as the birthplace of the Western Desert art movement, and it continues that legacy through contemporary paintings, exhibitions and cultural maintenance.
