History of Panchalimedu
According to local legend, Panchalimedu served as a hiding spot for the Pandava brothers and their wife Draupadi (Panchali) during their one-year incognito exile. The name derives from 'Panchali' and 'Medu' (hill). Granite edicts found at the site depict its linkage to ancient history, and it is considered the original sanctum (moola sthana) of the Goddess before she moved to Valliyamkavu.
