Palm Beach

Palm Beach is a coastal suburb and patrolled surf beach on the southern Gold Coast, Queensland, between Currumbin and Burleigh Heads. It features a long sandy ocean beach, the sheltered Currumbin Creek estuary to the south, and the Palm Beach Parklands. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, consistent surf breaks and parkland recreation areas, it is a popular destination for swimming, surfing and picnics within the City of Gold Coast.

Visitors can expect a long, wide sandy beach with a patrolled swimming area managed by Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club, backed by dunes and a coastal park. To the south, Currumbin Creek offers calm, sheltered water for swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The Palm Beach Parklands includes picnic shelters, barbecues, playgrounds and walking paths. The area has a relaxed residential beach suburb setting with cafes and shops along Gold Coast Highway and ocean views toward Burleigh Head and Currumbin Rock.

Palm Beach was subdivided and developed as a seaside suburb from the 1950s, following earlier use of the area for farming and holiday camping. The Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club was established in the 1930s to provide beach patrols. The suburb grew with Gold Coast tourism expansion and coastal development in the latter half of the 20th century.

Located on the lands of the Yugambeh people, the traditional custodians of the Gold Coast region. The beach and Currumbin Creek area holds ongoing cultural value and is part of the coastal lifestyle central to Gold Coast community identity and surf culture.
