History of Pak Bara Beach
Pak Bara developed as a coastal fishing settlement and later became the principal mainland access point for Tarutao National Marine Park, which was established in 1974 as Thailand's second marine national park. The pier has since served as the main departure point for access to historic islands such as Koh Tarutao.
Culture & Context
The beach and pier reflect the coastal fishing culture of Satun Province, with a predominantly Muslim local community. Daily fishing activities, seafood trade and boat services to islands form an important part of local livelihood and visitor experience.
