About Onslow Goods Shed Museum
The Onslow Goods Shed Museum is a heritage museum housed in the former goods shed of the Onslow tramway in Onslow, Western Australia, within the Shire of Ashburton. The shed is one of few surviving structures from the original Old Onslow townsite established in the 1880s and relocated in 1925. It displays photographs, artefacts and records relating to pearling, pastoralism, port history and World War II, illustrating the town's development on the Pilbara coast.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a small heritage museum housed in a restored corrugated-iron goods shed near the Onslow foreshore. Inside are display cases and panels with historic photographs, documents, tramway and port artefacts, pearling and pastoral memorabilia, and World War II material relating to the bombing of Onslow. The setting is simple and informative, with interpretive signage explaining the Old Onslow townsite and the jetty tramway. Access is typically via the Onslow Visitor Centre and the visit is self-guided.
