About Mutton Cove Conservation Reserve
Mutton Cove Conservation Reserve is a small coastal conservation reserve at Osborne on the LeFevre Peninsula in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, South Australia. Located on the eastern shore of the Port River near Outer Harbor, it protects tidal samphire saltmarsh, mangroves and mudflats. Established in 2016 and managed by the Department for Environment and Water, it provides habitat for migratory shorebirds and offers a short walking trail with interpretive signs and views of the Port River shipping channel.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a quiet, low-lying coastal wetland landscape with flat samphire saltmarsh, mangroves and mudflats along the Port River. A short unsealed loop walking trail with interpretive signage circles the reserve, offering birdwatching opportunities, views of passing ships and the Port River, and open, exposed conditions with little shade. The site is undeveloped with no visitor centre, shops or toilets, providing a natural, undisturbed environment for walking, photography and nature observation.
