About Museum of the Riverina
The Museum of the Riverina is a regional history museum in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, operated by Wagga Wagga City Council across two sites. The Historic Council Chambers site occupies the 1881 former municipal chambers in the city centre, while the Botanic Gardens site is within the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens. It preserves and interprets the social, cultural and natural history of the Riverina region through permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Visitors guide
Visitors can explore two distinct sites. The Historic Council Chambers site is a heritage-listed 1881 building in central Wagga Wagga with permanent and temporary exhibitions on Riverina history, Wiradjuri culture, and local stories. The Botanic Gardens site is set within landscaped gardens and features historic buildings, agricultural and domestic artefacts, and the Australian Sporting Hall of Fame display. Both sites offer curated displays, interpretive panels and guided tours in an indoor museum setting.
