The battle is a significant event in Sikh history, after which Guru Gobind Singh Ji blessed the martyrs as Muktas (the Liberated Ones) and the town formerly known as Khidrana was renamed Muktsar.

It is part of the sacred heritage circuit of Sri Muktsar Sahib that includes several historic gurudwaras and is visited by pilgrims and tourists, especially during the annual Mela Maghi fair held in January.
