About Moogerah Peaks National Park
Moogerah Peaks National Park in the Scenic Rim Region of south-east Queensland protects four prominent volcanic peaks — Mount French, Mount Edwards, Mount Moon and Mount Greville — rising above Lake Moogerah west of Boonah. Established to conserve remnant dry eucalypt forest and rugged rhyolite cliffs, the park is notable for its dramatic escarpments, Aboriginal cultural landscape, and as a premier rock-climbing destination, particularly the Frog Buttress on Mount French, with walking tracks offering panoramic views.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a dispersed national park comprising four separate volcanic peaks with rugged rhyolite cliffs, dry eucalypt forest and open woodland. There are short to steep bushwalking tracks, cliff-top lookouts over Lake Moogerah and the Scenic Rim, and internationally recognised rock-climbing cliffs at Frog Buttress on Mount French. Facilities are basic and natural, with car parks and signed tracks at each peak section. The environment is quiet, natural and exposed, suited to hiking, climbing and nature observation.
