Founded on 1 June 1917 by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel under the leadership of Bro. It is among the earliest Montfort schools in India and has retained several heritage structures from the British colonial period, reflecting early 20th-century hill-station educational architecture.

The campus represents the educational and cultural contribution of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel in Tamil Nadu and serves as a long-standing Anglo-Indian residential school. It is valued locally as a heritage educational institution and for its role in the development of Yercaud as an educational centre in the Shevaroy Hills.
