About Monkey Beach
Monkey Beach is a small 150-meter sandy beach on the southwestern coast of Ko Phi Phi Don in Krabi Province, within Hat Noppharat Thara - Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. It is known for its colony of crab-eating macaques that inhabit the limestone cliffs behind the beach, its clear turquoise water, white sand and snorkeling opportunities. Accessible only by boat, it is a popular stop on island-hopping tours from Phi Phi Don, Phuket and Krabi.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a small curved beach backed by steep limestone cliffs and vegetation where wild macaques are often seen on the sand and cliffs. The beach has fine white sand and clear shallow water suitable for swimming and snorkeling over coral and fish near the rocks. There are no permanent buildings, shops or sun loungers. Access is only by longtail boat or speedboat with a beach landing that may require wading ashore. The area is undeveloped and can be crowded during midday tour hours.
