About Millstream-Chichester National Park
Millstream-Chichester National Park is a large desert national park in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, about 140 km south of Karratha and within the Shire of Ashburton. Centred on the Fortescue River oasis at Millstream and the rugged Chichester Range, it is notable for permanent spring-fed pools, palm-fringed waterholes, spinifex plains and Aboriginal heritage. The park protects an important arid-zone wetland and historic Millstream Homestead.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a contrasting desert oasis landscape where the spring-fed Fortescue River creates permanent pools fringed by palms and paperbarks amid arid spinifex plains and the rocky Chichester Range.
