About Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary
Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary is a small river-island sanctuary on the Tunga River near Mandagadde village in Shivamogga district, Karnataka, about 30 km from Shivamogga town. Surrounded by dense forest, the island becomes a seasonal nesting and breeding ground for migratory birds. It is notable for large colonies of median egrets, little cormorants, darters and other water birds that arrive during the monsoon, offering close birdwatching from a watchtower and riverbank.

Visitors can expect a small forested island in the middle of the Tunga River viewed from the riverbank and a dedicated watchtower. During season, the trees are covered with nesting birds including egrets, cormorants, darters and herons. The setting is natural and forested with river views.
