About Lukung Pangong Lakefront
Lukung Pangong Lakefront is the northwestern access point to Pangong Tso in Leh district, Ladakh, situated at about 4,350 metres altitude. It is the first major shoreline settlement encountered when travelling from Leh via Chang La and Tangtse. The lakefront is notable for its clear blue brackish waters, surrounding barren mountains, and expansive high-altitude landscape. It serves as a primary visitor area for viewing the lake, with nearby camps and amenities for tourists.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect an open high-altitude lakefront with expansive views of Pangong Tso's blue brackish waters set against stark, barren mountains. The shoreline area is largely natural and undeveloped with open viewing areas, parking space and nearby seasonal camps and small eateries. Visitors can walk along the shore, take photographs, and observe the changing colours of the lake. There are no built structures in the water and facilities are basic due to the remote location.
