About Little Blowhole
The Little Blowhole is a natural coastal blowhole located in a residential area at Tingira Crescent, Kiama, on the New South Wales South Coast, about 120 km south of Sydney. Smaller and less crowded than the famous Kiama Blowhole, it features a narrow sea cave that forces ocean swell through a hole in the rock platform, creating a plume of spray. It is notable for its accessible viewing platform, coastal scenery, and reliable performance in moderate southeasterly swells.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a small coastal reserve with a fenced viewing platform overlooking a hole in the flat rock platform. When southeasterly swell enters the sea cave below, water is forced upward as a spray plume. The setting is residential and open, with ocean views, exposed headland, and a short paved path from street parking to the lookout. There is no beach or swimming area; the experience is focused on viewing the natural blowhole action, photography, and coastal scenery.

History of Little Blowhole
The Little Blowhole is a natural geological formation created by erosion of basalt and sandstone along the Kiama coastline, where a sea cave has been enlarged by wave action to form a vertical shaft through the rock platform. The Kiama coastline has long been known for its blowholes, with the main Kiama Blowhole documented since early European settlement in the 19th century.
Culture & Context
Located on Dharawal Country, the Kiama coastal landscape holds significance for Aboriginal people. The blowholes are part of the natural coastal heritage that defines Kiama as a seaside town and are promoted as key natural attractions of the Illawarra-South Coast region.
