About Lingmala Waterfall
Lingmala Waterfall is a seasonal natural attraction located approximately 6 km from Mahabaleshwar in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Formed by the Venna River, it features two distinct cascades: a smaller lower waterfall and a main upper waterfall dropping about 500 feet. The site is situated between Mahabaleshwar and Pune along the Mahabaleshwar-Pune Road near Bhekavali. It is most prominent during the monsoon season when water flow merges with Venna Lake, attracting visitors for nature viewing and short treks through forested terrain.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a short trek of approximately 1 km to reach the lower mini waterfall where limited swimming or splashing may be possible in safe conditions. A further steep walk of about 30 minutes leads to the main 500-foot waterfall viewpoint, which offers scenic views but prohibits entry into the water due to safety risks. The trail passes through lush green forests with opportunities to observe wildflowers and birdlife. Facilities are basic, and the experience is primarily focused on nature observation and photography rather than developed recreational infrastructure.
