About Lake Magic
Lake Magic is a natural salt lake located just north of Hyden in the Shire of Kondinin, Western Australia, about 340 kilometres east of Perth. Part of the Wheatbelt's extensive salt lake system, it is known for its bright white salt crust, shallow seasonal waters and striking reflections at sunrise and sunset. The lake adjoins low bushland and private accommodation on its edge and is a popular stop for visitors touring Wave Rock and the Hyden area.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a shallow, white salt lake surrounded by low Wheatbelt bushland and open sky, located about 2 km north of Hyden. When holding water, the lake creates mirror-like reflections, especially at sunrise and sunset. When dry, the cracked salt crust is visible. There is a small viewing area and private accommodation units on the lake edge. The setting is quiet and open, suited to photography, short walks along the shore and stargazing, with no built attractions on the lake itself.
