About Labrador Nature Reserve
Labrador Nature Reserve is a 10-hectare coastal nature reserve in the Bukit Merah planning area of southern Singapore, overlooking the Singapore Strait. Managed by the National Parks Board, it protects one of Singapore's last natural rocky shores, coastal cliffs and secondary forest. Notable for its rich biodiversity, mangrove boardwalk at Berlayer Creek and preserved World War II coastal artillery relics, it forms part of the Southern Ridges and offers nature and heritage experiences near the city.
Visitors guide
Visitors can explore secondary forest trails, a natural rocky shore exposed at low tide, coastal cliffs and mangroves along the Berlayer Creek Boardwalk and Bukit Chermin Boardwalk. The reserve contains preserved World War II relics including gun emplacements, tunnels and casemates of the former Labrador Battery. Boardwalks, lookout points and information panels allow for nature walks, birdwatching and photography in a coastal forest setting overlooking Keppel Harbour and the Singapore Strait.

History of Labrador Nature Reserve
The site was developed as Fort Pasir Panjang from 1878 as part of Singapore's southern coastal defence system, later known as Labrador Battery. It housed British coastal artillery guns, tunnels, casemates and observation posts to defend Keppel Harbour. The preserved battery and associated structures illustrate 19th-century coastal fortification and World War II defence history.
