History of Ku Ka Sing
Ku Ka Sing was constructed in the 11th century during the Angkor period, in the Baphuon style, as a Hindu sanctuary likely dedicated to Shiva. Built of brick with sandstone elements on a laterite base, it reflects the expansion of Khmer influence into the Mun River basin. Later adapted for Buddhist use, it is registered as an ancient monument by the Fine Arts Department and is one of the most complete Khmer sites in Roi Et Province.
Culture & Context
The site represents Khmer religious architecture and the cultural heritage of Isan, illustrating the historical Hindu-Buddhist transition in northeastern Thailand. It remains a respected local heritage site and educational resource for understanding Angkorian art and community history in Kaset Wisai.
